»Sexuelle Gewalt in der Ehe wurde in Deutschland erst 1997 kriminalisiert. Der Reform des Sexualstrafrechts ging jahrzehntelanger Aktivismus der Neuen Frauenbewegung voraus. Die Kämpfe von Feministinnen, die männliche Gewalt gegen Frauen konsequent anprangerten, analysiert die Historikerin Hannah Catherine Davies in ihrem Buch „Rechtsstaat und Patriarchat“. Mit Hannah Schmidt-Ott spricht sie über die Wahrnehmung sexueller Gewalt in der Bundesrepublik, das Verhältnis der Frauenbewegung zum Staat und Strafe als politisches Mittel.«
